About Brisbane Home Builders
This is an owner-side paper about the houses South East Queensland actually builds: the contracts, the climate, the land and the long argument with council.
The domain name is older than this masthead. For years brisbanehomebuilders.com.au sat in the same neighbourhood as builder directories and lead-gen pages. Wayback snapshots were not reachable when this edition was reset, so we rebuilt the publication from the niche the name still describes: a serious Brisbane paper about home building, written in Australian English, for people about to spend the largest sum of their lives.
We are not a builder. We do not take referral fees from volume companies. We do not operate a "get three quotes" funnel. When a piece mentions a product, a grant or a statute, it is because an owner needs the fact, not because someone bought the sentence. Paid or guest-placed links, if they ever appear, carry rel="sponsored". Read the editorial standards and the write-for-us guidelines before you pitch.
What the desk covers
Six hubs, because a house is not one subject. New homes is the commissioning problem: builder, product, sloping block, display village. Costs and contracts is the money and the paper. Approvals and law is council, QBCC, warranty insurance and overlays. Design and climate is how a house survives a Brisbane February. Land and suburbs is where the house sits. Renovations is what you do with the Queenslander you already own.
Who writes
Meredith Keane, Editor, contracts and consumer law. Former construction solicitor. Writes on Queensland building contracts, warranty insurance and the paperwork owners actually sign.
Tom Llewelyn, Construction correspondent. Site-trained journalist covering builder selection, sequencing, sloping blocks and the weekly reality of a Brisbane build.
Priya Nair, Design and climate editor. Architectural researcher focused on subtropical housing, energy ratings and materials that survive a Queensland summer.
James Whitford, Land and suburbs correspondent. Covers SEQ growth corridors, soil classification, flood overlays and the difference between a cheap block and a cheap house.
