Charter
Editorial standards
The paper exists to make a Brisbane owner less easy to rush. That obligation sits above any commercial interest.
Independence
We do not accept payment to recommend a builder, a lender, a certifier or a product. We do not run a quote marketplace. Staff and regular contributors disclose a financial interest in a company named in a piece. Display advertising, if it is ever sold, is labelled and kept out of the body copy.
Sources and Australian English
Statute, grant amounts and council process change. We name the instrument — QBCC Act, Queensland Development Code, Brisbane City Plan, a Queensland Treasury grant page — and we date the piece. We write colour, labour, metre, verandah and organisation. We do not import NSW BASIX language into a Queensland story. Estimates are labelled as estimates.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected in the article and, where the error changed someone's decision, noted at the top. Send the URL, the sentence and the document that contradicts it via contact. We do not silently rewrite a piece to bury a mistake.
Sponsored and guest links
Commercial, paid or guest-placed hyperlinks carry rel="sponsored". Affiliate arrangements, if they ever exist, will be disclosed on the page. Authors pitching work should read write for us before they attach a draft.
People and properties
We do not publish a private address or a plan that identifies a household without a reason that survives a privacy test. Criticism of a licensed entity is tied to documents — a QBCC record, a judgment, a contract clause — not to rumour.
Images
Photographs are Creative Commons or public domain, self-hosted, and listed on the image credits page. We do not scrape real-estate listing photos.
